If during the process of the application, you are dissatisfied with the College’s treatment of you or your application, or a decision that the College has made, you can communicate this to the College's admissions office directly. You do not need to submit a formal appeal, and often a simple email may resolve the situation quickly. The appeals and complaints form is intended for those who have not found satisfaction through such routes.
Before you submit an appeal, please seek and consider carefully any feedback provided by the College who initially considered your application. If you feel that the feedback is incomplete or unclear, please ask for clarification in the first instance rather than proceed directly to appealing the decision. All Colleges are committed to undertaking reasonable endeavours to explain their decision, but please be aware that if you receive a decision not to offer a place and you were not offered an interview, the feedback is likely to be brief. College contact information can be found
here.
An appeal
must fit within the grounds of appeal. You can only appeal against a decision not to offer you a place of study if you believe there has been a
serious procedural error in the consideration of your application. The grounds of appeal and examples of serious procedural errors can be found
here.
They should be made within 20 working days of you receiving in writing the decision of the College (either not to call you for interview or to confirm that they are not making you an offer) and/or written confirmation from the College that you have received full feedback, whichever is the latter. An appeal can only be submitted once you have received such a decision in writing. The College reserves the right not to accept an appeal submitted after this deadline, and to reject its contents without further investigation. (Should you wish to submit an appeal after this deadline, you should submit a supplementary statement and evidence with your written complaint, explaining why your complaint should - exceptionally - be considered. The College may choose to accept a late appeal at its absolute discretion and you are not entitled to challenge any decision it may make in this respect.)
